The Canada 1921 census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population. Federal census records are closed for 72 years by federal law.

The Archives has federal population schedules available from 1830-1930 with the exception of 1890 which was damaged in a 1921 fire and ultimately destroyed in 1934.

. Thus the first year with a full Missouri federal census is 1830. The Statistics Act and the Act to Amend the Statistics Act do not permit the disclosure of personal information from post-1926 census returns. The 1921 records also have new details that werent available on previous census records including asking respondents for the name and address of their employer and giving the option to enter their marital status as Divorced.

Census returns after 1926 are in the custody of Statistics Canada. The census count was taken as at 1 June 1921. The 1921 census for Scotland will be published by ScotlandsPeople in the latter half of 2022.

New France Census Records see also Finding Aid 300 Census after 1926. The total population count was 8788483 representing a 22 increase over the 1911 Census population count of 7206643. The act creates section 181 of the Statistics Act which releases personal census records to LAC for censuses taken between 1910 and 2005 inclusive 92 years after the taking of a census.

The 1940 census was released on April 2 2012. In the 2006 Census Canadians were asked for the first time whether they consent to the release of their personal census information after 92 years. The 1921 Census was the sixth comprehensive decennial census since Canadian Confederation on 1 July 1867.
